The Making of Tracks Across Time from the Tracks Across America Project

"Distorted guitar riffage flies from the speakers, along with some quick-picked rock soloing. Harrelson aka..TL2 is quite comfortable mixing a disparate range of styles - it's quite likely the full CD release will feature more of the same."....... Guitar9.com

The Making of Tracks Across America
In 1999 EvO:R founder Charlie Harrelson wanted to create a track sharing project via the Internet. Musicians from anywhere could join in and make music. This whole process had many pitfalls as Internet connections where slow and people where a bit protective of their music. As time passed musicians began to trust each other and Internet connections got faster. This allowed the Tracks Across America project the time it needed to run and grow.

One musician would record some music on a 4 track (or digiatl multi-track) and send the tracks to another musician ( It could also be the foundation tracks s/a bass and drums). The next musician is responsible for adding another track, then sends the song to another artist and so on. The artist that has the music is in total control of the arrangement.

Normally we try to keep the number to two or three. This allows each artist a chance to be totally involved in the process. We also depend on each artist to work fast so the momentum never slows down. After every track is completed the song is mailed back to me so I can make a master and a slave copy. This way if something is lost in the mail we still have a song to work with.

With Volume I-II and III completed and official Bootleg Editions where made available for sale but they are all currently sold out. This compilation series was about having fun, not about selling thousands of CD's and making money. The latest version Tracks Across Time is the latest offering and is a much better production and the result of years of experimenting to find a workable final result. This CD is now sold exclusively via our friends at Peacework Music Network and we are offering the CD at a great price!

The opening song features Discovery Channel music director Karl Kalbaugh teaming up with myself for a nice warm up song. Karl and I team up again with Blue later on in the CD. Blue was an amazing song featuring some pretty unusual instruments from Africa. The EvO:R super group ASH wets their toes with two great songs Medicine Man and A.S.H..

This was a very well recorded CD considering how the music was put together. It was never ment to be anything but lo-fi fun for our members but after mixing and mastering the tracks we where all amazed at just how good this CD sounded.

Reviews
I'll start this out by saying Charlie has some great guitar chops. He can do it all, and he does it well. TL2 mixes synthesized backgrounds with killer solo guitar. If you have any love for Steve Vai, you'll like TL2. He has the same way of speaking through his guitar rather than vocally. The guitar sound is great and he uses interesting beats and time signatures to keep things interesting. The mixes are excellent and boast nice production values where you can take in the entirety of the mix, nothing is lost in the booth. This is no triple A rookie, folks, this guys a real pro. Give him a listen.......IUMA Review
