Song Samples from the CD
This is McBride’s latest release “3 PLAY” a 3 song EP sampler released in 2012 (Will McBride Group Records). McBride hails from Noth Carolina and I get the impression venturing to his website he is a gifted artist. Gifted in the sense that he bring much to the table with respect to songwriting, playing and his ability to connect with fans though his music.
McBride plays guitar and sings throughout. McBride is no joke on guitar and he and the rest of his band have done an amazing job carving out a unique niche for himself within his amazing songwriting craft and a sincere/honest approach. Right from the start McBride’s emotional impact and world class playing/songwriting cannot be called into question. The opening track: “90 Minutes to Nowhere” is an amazing prelude of sorts that will gently lead you by the hand down a timeless musical journey that I would describe as emotionally invigorating and lyrically engaging. The whole EP is wonderfully simple yet wonderfully complex at the same time. It reminds me a little of Steely Dan, Randy Newman, and even Boz Skaggs. There are some fantastic moments on display here which gives this CD a very accessible feel emotionally. What I like most - this CD does not attempt to try to hide the truth - rather exploit a bad situation via music and comedic genius. 3 PLAY also has deep musical depth and incorporates musical elements typical of Jazz, Classic Rockk, R&B, and Modern Jazz Fusion. Favorite song is “Mental Health Day” I had this track on repeat mode in the car after a bad day at work – no joke, true story folks!
All song samples are from the The Will McBride page on CD Baby.

Mental Health Day
The Will McBride Group is brilliant! Brilliant not just the way they represent “Music Meets lyrical satire” but in his amazing musical personality and playing style as well. Hearing the full length CD this year is on my to do list for sure!
