Welcome to the EvO:R Independent CD Reviews Section.
I would like to take a few minutes to introduce ourselves to everyone. The EvO:R review section features reviews from various independent musicians that submit material for our consideration.

I wanted to let you know a little about our review teams collective thoughts on music. It's important to let the people we review know what we think of their music and how we listened to their creations.

We hold nothing back! The team has been instructed to be honest and respectful of all CD's reviewed.

Review of Why I quit the music business
    By Symon’s New Blue Diamonds
    Reviewed by: JT Baker

Why I quit the music business, that would be the 64 dollar question. I would expect to hear a record like this while dining at the top of the Mark or perhaps the Carnelian room. This is really more along the lines of dinner conversation music. I have to say, if that was the avenue the group was pursuing, …great job you nailed it. If not, oh my, I must apologize now. The tempo and tonal qualities among all the songs are very familiar. In fact after the fourth tune “girls who drink” I had to start it over. I did not realize that four songs had passed. The first song on the CD “Blue Ball Town” is a mere 24 seconds. I have to question the logic of having not one but three song on a Cd that come in under 45 seconds each?

The record as a whole is somewhat upbeat. With really nice mood swings and really cool horn harmonies. They stayed true to their musical timbre and genre. This is very straight ahead, no frills, instrumental jazz. Unfortunately this Cd left me feeling somewhat empty and cold. I kept waiting for something, anything, to take the lead. It never happened.

    In the Studio
The mix was superb and the tonal qualities fundamentally sound and clear. You can obviously hear the musicianship is that of great quality but the musical selections where just a little too vanilla for me.

    Song Samples from the CD
All song samples are from the Symon’s New Blue Diamonds page on CD Baby.
Blue Ball Town  Eddie the Killjoy  Confusionville  Girls Who Drink

Droppin' Trou  Crazy Cougars  Big As A Melon  Everyone's a Victim
Going Back to Hong Kong  Popular Moments  Red Lion Revenge  Waiting On the Money Shot
Just Don't Overdo It  Slow As A Melon  Why I Quit the Music Business

    Conclusion:
The CD song titles where more exciting then the music.

    Rating
My score: 4 out of 10.
