That review said the CD "is an unbelievable rock album."
Must have been a review by one of the members of the band or a slobbering fan.
The CD was a good one, just not "unbelievable." Fans of distortion ladened power chords and a slightly out of tune vocalist
might find this offering to their liking. I did like the bass players performace even though he was killed by the studio mix.
What was especially dissapointed where songs like Pain, a song that bored me to death for 2:11 before it really took shape.
The song had so much potential but it was lost in a reverb and distortion filled attack then settles down and leads the listener knowhere.
Then Candy Dish sounded a lot like The Human Resourceful with different words. Nervous Alligator,
was a bit like a Neal Young tune just pick one, they all sound about the same. The song featured that classic Neal Young trio of power chords
and that flat on the high notes vocals that made Neal famous. Why, I'll never know.
In the Studio:
Cudos to the studio engineer for taking this series of work and at least recording it effectively. Maybe Pro Tune could have saved the
vocalist from going flat almost every time he tried to reached a higher note. The drums sounded a bit flat and lifeless and the bass could
have been eq'd a little warmer. Overall, the recording was what saved the songs.
Final conclusion.:
The last reviewer gave the band 5 stars but that's what friends are for. We make no friends when we review a CD.
We just tell the truth. I can only muster up about 2 stars and that is being generous.
Maybe the band will get better musically and the next CD will hit on all cylinders. If not, I hope they still have
a day job to return to because this offering won't get them very far.
