Undercover Lover
by
Lea Marie

This is Marie’s second release entitled “Undercover Lover” EP released in 2012 and it certainly doesn’t disappoint. This is one American Idol artist that brings to the table effective songwriting coupled with a passionate vocal delivery and amazing dance driven sound. Musical flavors presented: Contemporary Pop, Singer/Songwriter. Modern Dance.
The opening track "Take me for a Ride” sets the stage rather well for this CD. It was a melodic intro piece that gently
took me by the hand and stuck in my head and had me eager for what lied ahead. All in all the whole EP is brilliantly
delivered via Gold Standard Sampling and an impressive vocal front (vocals and visuals). Musical overtones reminded me
a bit of Taylor Dane, Madonna, Alicia Keys and do I dare say Brittany Spears and Katy Perry.
There are some fantastic pieces on this CD which gives this musical production a polished and catchy vibe. Marie’s vocal presence works very well track for track, and these pieces just groove one after the other. The beats and rhythmic sampling are perfect for this genera. The meanings of these songs is pretty straight forward – but full of passion and seduction at the same time. She clearly has all the singer/songwriter qualities needed to gravitate a fan base. Favorite piece on the CD is a toss up between “Mi Chico Latino” and the title track.
Criticism:
This CD is sonic and overly synthetic. Are these instruments real? I guess this all goes without saying within this genre
– but over time, this music is a real wear on the senses and is comparable to pack Ramon Noodles for the ears.

Conclusion:
This EP will simply make you want to dance. Marie is like a drug and like the title implies it will suck you in under the covers. The strong suit of Marie is clearly her sex appeal. At the end of the CD you will find yourself inspired, invigorated and in the mood to open up your heart and let her in.
