The Independent CD Reviews
Welcome to the EvO:R Independent Music Reviews Section.
I would like to take a few minutes to introduce myself to everyone. My name is Charlie Harrelson
and I am the founder of EvO:R. I am the main screener for CD reviews at EvO:R so nothing gets reviewed until it gets past me.
Once in a while I will take a CD and review it myself but typically I let our great staff of reviewers do what they are asked to do.
I'm always impressed with the great talent that comes across my desk from the Independent music community. If you take the time to make it,
we'll take the time to review it. We look forward to reviewing your next masterpiece.

Dropstone
by J.D.A.
Written by Charlie Harrelson
The band J.D.A. has been a part of EvO:R and independent music for as long as EvO:R has been around.
The band first released a CD via MP3.com called "A Fine Time." The CD highlighted the bands fondness of
The Beatles and featured the groundwork that has come to define the bands future work.
The next two CDs featured the bands attempt to seperate them from sounding like other mainstream bands.
The third CD "SYZYGY", was voted one of the top 25 Independent Artist CDs.
Musically, Dropstone takes over where SYZGY left off. This release is a very mature offering from a band that is starting
to reach its musical peak.
Original band members Joel Pirard, Don Pitz and Arno Tietje remain in tact with new additions Lawrence "Larry" Lipsen
and Christopher Scott giving J.D.A. an all-star line up of talented musicians.
One very noticable effect of the CD is the added vocals which take J.D.A. to a new level of listening enjoyment.
Don Pitz has a unique voice, but his lack of overall range has limited the bands musicial opportunities. The addition of the rest of
the bands added vocals enable the band to explore additional musicial directions. The harmonies are excellent and the musicial
diversity makes this band a very enjoyable listening experience.
In the studio, J.D.A. really excells on this offering. The band has come a long way from the lo-fi effort "A Fine Time."
Modern technology and years of recording experience have compounded to make "Dropstone" a work of art musically.
It is a masterpiece in the studio.
Many bands change their sound with time or with age. Some bands never change and simply hold on the a secret formula which worked
for them in their last 2-3 releases. This formula is considered the safest method because it follows the primise, 'if it worked once it will
work again'. J.D.A. has taken another path. Their music has matured with age and the result is, they are easy to hear and appreciate.

Conclusion:
With a new found spirit and a style that is truely J.D.A. the band has finally arrived with Dropstone.
This is truely a fine piece of work that is best served as a full course meal. The band is posed to break
out of the sounds like someone else mold of the past and has established it's own musical identity. And I like it.
