The Independent Musicians CD Reviews|
Welcome to the EvO:R Independent CD Reviews Section.
I would like to take a few minutes to introduce ourselves to everyone. The EvO:R review section
features reviews from various independent musicians that submit material for our consideration.
I wanted to let you know a little
about our review teams collective thoughts on music. It's important to let the people that we review know how we
think of their music and how we listened to their creations.
First of all, we strongly believe that if your music stinks then
the world should know about it! After all, you have the nerve to charge as much for
your stuff as the majors do so it better be pretty damn good. If your material is good, we'll be glad to
tell the world. I We will hold nothing back! That is a promise.

by Artist: Gioia
A review by Jef Peace - Senior Partner, PeaceWork Music
With unintentional nods to Indie greats like Thor Marius and Si Wright, Gioia takes full advantage of electronic
instrumentation to bring the world this melody-driven power pop ep. At times gentle, relaxing and whimsical and at
times raw and edgy, every song has well written contemporary lyrics and excellent composition with nearly "Flawless"

Gioia press release
Vocal production for the song has just been completed at Surefire Studios (Lowell, Ma.) and accompanying Gioia are the sultry
vocals of Lynne Hajjar. Assisting in Lynne's vocal production was composer/arranger, Felix Quinones who brought a wealth of
musical talent and ideas to the session. "The Fire Rages On", written by Gioia, Marc Soucy and Jared Hancock, is a compelling
track focusing on the destruction of the rain forest and our responsibility to protect Mother Earth. Fittingly, Lynne’s vocal
session was awe-inspired by Mother Nature herself as Lynne recorded her vocals in the mist of a strong-willed winter storm that
unleashed hurricane-force winds and rain on most of New England. The storm caused severe flooding while knocking down trees and
Nearly 1000,000 New Englander’s lost their electrical service including those surrounding Surefire, yet the studio’s
electrical power remained, almost as if Mother Nature approved of the songs healing message. While Gioia and the team recorded
throughout the stormy night blue lightning colored the sky, Surefire’s lights flickered, and everybody held their breath as
Lynne added her beautiful and haunting vocal presence to the deeply moving piece.
In the end, even Surfire couldn’t escape Mother Nature’s wrath as Gioia and friends wandered around the darken
studio with flashlights in hand, lighting the way as Mother Nature continued her justifiable rage…..The track will
be available for on-line listening March 15th.
The lead vocals are solid and the vocal harmonies are pitch-perfect, causing the hairs on the back of my neck
to rise in salute to their haunting perfection.
I do hope Gioia releases an album soon; the world could use more
music such as this.
