Counting Your Blessings
by
Dwayne Litz

This is Litz’s third release entitled “
Counting Your Blessings” released in 2012 and it certainly
doesn’t disappoint. This is one New York artist that brings to the table effective songwriting
coupled with a graceful yet passionate vocal delivery. Musical flavors presented: Contemporary
Vocal Jazz, Jazz Pop and even Big Band Jazz.
I always listen very carefully to the first piece of music that hits your ears. It’s the first track
the artists has personally chosen to make a first impression. This one was perfect. The opening track
"Old Friend” sets the stage rather well for this CD. It was a great intro piece which bounced along
well & had me eager for what lied ahead. All in all the whole CD is wonderfully simple and very pure.
Musical overtones reminded me a bit of Bette Midler, Tina Turner, Joni Mitchell and Celine Dion.
Personally I see her as a cross between Nora Jones and Joni Mitchell – yet with a full band behind
her. There are some fantastic pieces on this CD which gives this musical production modern
jazz-poppy-type vibe.
Litz’s vocal presence works extremely very well track for track and her
red hot band just grooves together. She clearly has all the Singer/Songwriter qualities needed
to become successful artist. All the visuals are effective and she definitely gives off a
Cabaret-Broadway type appeal. My favorite piece on the CD: a toss up between “Someone to
Watch Over Me” and “Smile”.

Conclusion:
This CD will simply make your day a brighter place. The strong suit of Litz is her vocal passion, strong musical variety and wide range of emotions you will be exposed to via this incredible catalogue. It’s obvious she feels comfortable letting it all hang out on every track. At the end of the CD you will find yourself inspired, invigorated and happier than you were 60 minutes prior. Dwayna Litz is amazing!
