Welcome to the EvOR Independent CD Reviews Section.
I would like to take a few minutes to introduce ourselves to everyone. The EvO:R review section
features reviews from various independent musicians that submit material for our consideration.
I wanted to let you know a little
about our review teams collective thoughts on music. It's important to let the people that we review know how we
think of their music and how we listened to their creations.
First of all, we strongly believe that if your music stinks then
the world should know about it! After all, you have the nerve to charge as much for
your stuff as the majors do so it better be pretty damn good. If your material is good, we'll be glad to
tell the world. I We will hold nothing back! That is a promise.

Night Train
by The Chevrons
Take Terry Sullivan, David Galt, Ian Fraser, and John Kane, put them together, and you’ve got THE CHEVRONS.
Take 7 great original rock and roll songs and one classic Stones cover, and you’ve got
THE CHEVRONS: NIGHT TRAIN.
The cd starts off with a classic early-Beatles tinged track called Somebody to Help Me. Featuring Terry, to my
ears, sounding a lot like a combination of John and Paul in their best rock voices.
Message Understood, the next track is a cool song, that tells a the age-old story of being ‘blown off’ by ‘that’ girl,
the one we’ve all wanted, only to be shot down.
Good guitar work, clean production lets the slightly overdriven guitars stand out, the bass and drums are tight ( on all the tracks, btw.)
Great guitar work, tight rhythm section, unique voice; what else can you ask from a tight, eloquently simple band.
Do not confuse simple with shallow.
The simplicity of the arrangements is an asset, here, as the band IS what you hear. Other than the obvious overdubbed rhythm guitar,
very few other overdubs are there. This leads me to believe that these guys sound great live, partly because they can do EVERY song
justice in that setting.
The Stones cover is an interesting arrangement of Live With Me,
and they do the song proud.
Take A Ride is in my opinion, a song that I would think begs a sing-along live, has room to stretch and involve the
audience features some nice acoustic guitar work as well.
Night Train, the title track also appeals in the same way, with slightly darker subject matter.
My personal favorite is the ending track, Closer to the Truth, it has a great groove throughout, as is the signature of this band.
Song Samples from the CD All song samples are from CD, Night Train.
In conclusion, if you are a fan of good rockin’ guitar-based rock n roll, you can’t go wrong with
THE CHEVRONS : NIGHT TRAIN
