“I was a skinny girl with oversized glasses, and on this particular evening, I was sitting in front of a black and white television set in the living room of my family’s farm house in Norway. I was watching The Muppet Show, with their “very special guest star, Mr. Kenny Rogeeers!!!” Kenny was on a train, surrounded by Muppets, singing “The Gambler”. A scraggly, old Muppet was sitting by the window, acting as the Gambler himself. At the time, I didn’t know country music from anything, but I just knew that I loved that sound, that honesty, that feel.

Fast-forward to some twenty years later, I’m all grown up, and have just finished laying down the final vocal track on my debut album in our home studio in Victoria, Australia. I go into the living room, turn on the TV, and start channel surfing. On one of the children’s channels, an old Muppet Show rerun is on. And it turns out to be the very same episode, the very same scene, and the very same Kenny Rogers sitting on that train singing “The Gambler” to his friend, the scraggly old Muppet by the window. I just watch, and think that I’ve come full circle.”

Dave Edwards has been well known to Detroit audiences for more than 20 years as the lead singer of a band called "The Look".The Look enjoyed some national success in the early 1980's with albums and videos that were played on MTV (during the music channels infancy). Dave Edwards has now released his debut solo CD "Take Another Look" which features two future Rock and Roll Hall of Famers- guitarist Jim McCarty and drummer Johnny "Bee" Badanjek both of legendary Mitch Ryder's Detroit Wheels.

Kingsdown originated as a group of friends exploring musical interest in an abandoned train depot in 2002. “Kingsdown” is the evolutionary brainchild of five small-town friends sharing a heart for people and music. By 2003 the group had settled on a name, rounded out a core group of members and began to perform live in nearby Batesville, AR and other various towns in Arkansas. A century old Arkansas train station became their experimental base where various styles and sounds were rigorously tested. Small crowds soon grew into packed houses, and “The Depot” became a place where lifelong friendships were born, joy was rampant, and people were impacted for the better.

I was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. I have lived in Paris, France and now live in College Park, Maryland near Washington, DC. I went to high school in uptown New Orleans which at that time had a number of great clubs where you could see the Meters or Professor Longhair play. I also grew up watching the Mardi Gras parades with the marching bands with their amazing drum sections. I also have great memories of the Jazz Festival beginning in the seventies. I still try to attend when I can and visit my friend Pancho who is the stage manager at the zydeco stage. When I first started really hearing music, I was in high school. It was rock music that first got my attention. Especially the electric guitar. Led Zeppelin, Derek and the Dominoes, and Santana were on the radio. I'd go to sock hops and dance in my chair.

I have played guitar in bands in Louisiana, Maryland and the DC metro area. The latest band is Vicarious Thrill which is a part time dance band playing in the DC area. Vicarious Thrill is on hiatus right now, giving me time to work on my digital recording skills .
