Ordinary Peoples

The excitement of innovation never stops for Ordinary Peoples. Coming out of Ohio's kinetic music scene, the multitalented trio cooks up an unstoppable dose of charisma and an intoxicating mixture of fun. Infectious Organisms

Infectious has that special combination: a band capable of blowing out a room live while equally skilled as producers in the studio. The group consists of MCs Felton Martin and Jean Kouame supported by bassist Dave Sunderland, brothers Will and Brooke Blair on drums and guitar respectively, and pianist Mike Mathews. After selling 5,000 copies of their independently released self-titled debut, infectious spent the last year in the studio crafting a follow up capable of advancing the sound that has become their trademark: groove orientated instrumentation with rappers tight enough to crush coal into diamonds. Sean Slaughter

Sean Slaughter was born and raised in Queens, Ny where he currently resides. Son of Alvin and Gloria Slaughter, Sean was raised in a God fearing Christian household but never seemed to accept the Gospel that was presented to him. He soon found himself tasting the fruits of the world at the age of 16 and by the time he graduated high school, he was a drunk, smoked drugs and was a thief with a felony on his record. He received a full scholarship playing wide receiver at the University of Rhode Island. He left his scholarship after two year to attend the Institute of Audio Research and become a secular producer/hip-hop artist.

Opus Akoben

For us all, the hip-hop group Opus Akoben stands up with their weapon — the weapon against clichés which often times are set up by those which are withdrawn from the real world. A weapon forged within a wide musical culture with a strong identity. Vocalists, Carl Walker (aka Kokayi), Terence Nicholson (aka Sub-Z) and Joshua Culbreath (aka Black Indian) met through their involvement in the Freestyle Union which was founded in 1994 by Toni Blackman and Monty Taft. This creative arena was designed as an ongoing workshop dedicated to the “elevation of the rhyme” in which any kind of physical or verbal aggression was banned. Besides this precious and inviolable rule, the focus was placed on inventiveness, freedom, efficiency and emulation. Each freestyler bounced on his predecessor’s words and the three vocalists of Opus Akoben were among the first to be widely recognized.
