ROCK: Acoustic Rock

A Small Part of Something Beautiful
by Jacob Ray
Our Price: $7.99 CD / $7.99 Album Download (MP3)
Usually ships in 1-2 days
“Jacob Ray was born to play music, listening to the gorgeous intimacy of his solo debut, you’re struck by the sheer, helpless joy of music. Overstuffed with assured, rich, original songwriting both instantly familiar and rewarding of continued attention, the album perfectly exploits Ray’s hero Jeff Buckley and the transcendent elation of Britpop’s happier set."
A Small Part of Something Beautiful, is Jacob Ray's first attempt at recording music, and his earliest songs. Now, The Young Immortals have been born, which is Jacob Ray's recent project and where some of the songs from A Small Part of Something Beautiful have gone to mature in his new album When History Meets Fiction.
Jeff Buckley with the punch of Radiohead Familiar, yet, refreshingly sweet, bursting with emotion and capable of giving you something to sing all day.

A River Under Me
by Becky Chace
Our Price: $15.00 CD / $15.00 Album Download (MP3)
Usually ships in 1-2 days
Becky's voice is unforgettable. Much like Melissa Etheridge or Bonnie Raitt, once you hear Becky's voice you recognize it like a familiar scent that sparks a memory.
As an artist, Becky is many things: a crooner, a crass commentator, a sympathizer, a gay rights activist, a lover of profanity and polite behavior, she is real to herself and her audience. Together with longtime friend and guitarist Brian Minisce, Becky Chace writes, performs, and records genre-defying, soulful music which twists and turns through the varied paths of life leaving their listeners feeling connected to the bigger picture through the window of their work. Their music has the sadness and swing of alt-country and blues ala Lucinda Williams, but can kick into the rock bravado of rock and pop ala Bruce Springsteen and drop into the lonely despair of a folk song all in one set.
"Her voice. as versatile as any woman you'll hear on the radio today.at times delightfully easy on the ears, also fires up the live crowds with a bluesy enthusiasm that continues to win new fans far outside of her native city of Warwick." - The Providence

A Night On Earth
by Dalriada
Our Price: $12.97 CD /
Usually ships in 1-2 days
In Mid 1997 we contaced Greg Arnold - songwrite and frontman of Aussie Acoustic pop/flok band "Things of Stone and Wood" and sent him
a copy of our first album (under the Piping Hot moniker call "No Regrets" with a view to him producing our next album. He got back to
us with some enthusiasm for the project. Not long after we started meeting with Greg to start the gruelling process of song selection,
rehearsal and arrangement. This was all pretty new to us as our first album had been a farely haphazard affair, ala"...right then
whose got a tune/song - that'll do then" - not much rehearsal or weeding out wnet into it.
After a few months both Greg and the band felt we had some good material to work with (13 tracks). We hit atlantis studios
in Melbourne and things went pretty smoothly. By the end of the sessions two tracks had been weeded out and one extra one included
that was written in the studio (blinding rain).
The process involved relaying a story I'd heard about David Bowie cutting up words
from newspapers and magazines and writing a song with them. John and Dave liked this idea and immediately set to work writing a song.

A Call To Arms
by Bandits Of The Acoustic Revolution
Our Price: $6.00 CD
Usually ships in 1-2 days
An incredible blend of various styles and instruments to produce a sound like none other. Saying that it mixes SKA and acoustic, punk and rock just does not say enough. It has been in my player since I first got it, but I just cannot bring myself to take it out. The songs are so unique and incomparable to anything else out there, they just do not get old or tired no matter how many times I hear them. Top flight song-writing and musicianship…as tight a sounds as it gets. For goodness sakes man, just buy the CD right now!!!
A 15 piece acoustic collective playing an indescribable and hyper-energetic blend of rock, ska, folk, ethnic, punk, jazz, etc

A Beautiful Way To Drown
by Simon Lynge
Our Price: $12.97 CD / $9.99 Album Download (MP3)
Usually ships in 1-2 days
Recorded at Bright Orange Studios in Los Angeles with co-producers Matt Forger (Michael Jackson, Paul McCartney) and Jon Mattox (The Young Dubliners), Drown introduces Simon as a fully-formed contender for pop-legend status. The project attracted world-renowned talents like bass-player Lee Sklar (James Taylor, Jackson Browne), guitarist Shane Fontayne (Bruce Springsteen, Paul Simon), drummer Jay Bellerose (Marc Cohen, Madeliene Peyroux), bassist Freebo (Bonnie Raitt, John Mayall, CSN) and Jennifer Condos(bassist in Ryan Adams' "The Cardinals"). Drown is a musical beauty worthy of a wide audience.
Acoustic pop/rock. Entirely familiar, yet you've never heard it before.

70 People at 7000 feet
by Melissa Ferrick
Our Price: $15.00 CD / $15.00 Album Download (MP3)
Usually ships in 1-2 days
The emotional honesty of her lyrics and vocal delivery, the disciplined fury of her acoustic guitar, and her close rapport with her listeners have all helped her win over one audience after another with a grace bordering on magic.
Whether playing an intimate club or to a crowd of thousands, she comes on fierce but isn't afraid to show her vulnerability at the same time, and that balance keeps fans eager to discover where she'll take them next.
Melissa live with drummer Brian Winton. This is an amazing show recorded on great gear live in Flagstaff Arizona. A MUST-HAVE for any Melissa Ferrick fan.

20 Questions
by Guyton Maurice
Our Price: $15.00 CD / $15.00 Album Download (MP3)
Usually ships in 1-2 days
“10:22 is a bit of a cartoon in itself. Let’s just say it was inspired by a very intense love affair that was just as animated as the song and it affected me deeply,” he hedges. “And yes, some aspects of the song are quite literal. But I’ll leave the details up to the listener’s imagination!”
Like any engaging game of “20 Questions,” Maurice’s latest recording leaves listeners with far more tantalizing questions hanging in the air than actually answered.
Just like love itself.
Unbridled honesty, wicked wit, soulfulness & sexiness create a complex, satisfying song cycle about loves lost, found, chipping apart & unexpectedly fusing together.

171 Nails Counted Then Dropped
by Pablo Picker
Our Price: $12.99 CD / $9.99 Album Download (MP3)
Usually ships in 1-2 days
Pickers impressively smooth vocals sound like a cross between Gray and “Meddle”-era David Gilmour, seamlessly gliding from a talking delivery into glistening falsetto. The lyrics are oblique enough to be verbal versions of the ink blot test although “You Know You Smile Too Much” seems like it could be a Bush-bashing with the line, “where is your army? You know this will cost you.” There is a strong satisfying poetic sensibility (though no doubt perceived as pretentious to some) throughout the proceedings.
This is definitely Sunday morning coffee-and-paper mellow listening. The opening track “Kabel” starts off with an up-tempo riff similar to the Smiths’ “Headmaster Ritual” but then it downshifts into a slower groove that’s maintained throughout the CD. Picker is definitely one to keep an eye on. (Dan Leary)
Haunting and mesmerizing... Pablo is back with a vengeance. From songs like "Statues", with it’s cello and piano capturing the power in simplicity.this record captures the depth, maturity, and above all uniqueness that Pablo set out to capture.

11:59
by Dean Wolfe
Our Price: $8.99 CD / $5.99 Album Download (MP3)
Usually ships in 1-2 days
"Intricate acoustic guitar-based Rock Pop with cello accompaniments/ Ben Folds type vocals, Jack Johnson-y, Neil Finn industrial strength melodies, with generous sprinklings of classic Neil Young. Toronto based singer/songwriter.
Lyrics were absolutely brilliant a la Crowded House. I am a fan. Make that a big fan. Original. A breath of fresh air.” “I am digging your Jack Johnson-ey vocals” “Melody is back baby!” “The lead vocals are absolutely beautiful, as are the vocal harmonies and the guitars.” “- it's nice to hear a band who knows how to write a song that actually entertains! Great story telling and imagery.”

...For Amnesia
by Cage97
Our Price: $12.97 CD / $9.99 Album Download (MP3)
Usually ships in 1-2 days
We decided to record this album after being on tour and looking for things to fill our days with before our late-night rock shows. The answer was performing acoustically at Record Stores, radio stations and for whoever would listen. Inspired by what we came up with, the idea for an acoustic Cd was born. Originally, we'd planned to maybe spend two weeks laying down a more or less live rendition of the tracks, but as it started to take shape, we ended up investing over six months crafting what you hear on ...for amnesia. Not fully acoustic per se, you'll hear samples, electric bass and loops sprinkled about which will keep us out of the purist description of acoustic, but it does what it's supposed to. Which is give our parents something that they can listen to without having to put in ear-plugs...haha.
Acoustic escapade and labor of love by hard-rock Panama/L.A. transplants Cage9. "Unplugged" versions of the bands songs from earlier releases with a soul all its own. A true "all ages" Cd that has something for everyone.
