Born and raised in the city of Philadelphia, Gail Denise Jhonson began piano lessons in elementary school at age 10. Proving to be a gifted student she advanced quickly and played her 1st gig’s at age 14 playing organ with numerous local Funk and R&B bands. On her musical pursuit, by 18 she enrolled into Berklee College of Music and later received a B.A. in composition. Returning home, as a “jazz pianist”, Gail performed with several jazz bands, and other popular Philadelphia artists. She left Germantown in 1985, with her keyboard strapped on and landed an audition with Morris Day (of the “TIME”). She eventually moved to Los Angeles to make her dream career come true!

I often think back to one very cool winter morning. Snow lay like a sheet atop the forest floor, and the air, heavy with fog and moisture, turned anything beyond a few yards into grey shadows. The forest was eerily quiet, the only sound the faint whisper of the wind. Time seemed to stop, and for a few moments I felt total peace...
Such moments have had considerable effect on me. I carry them with me wherever I go, into whatever new challenge I face. One of the reasons I compose is to reexperience that woodland peacefulness, and wander in mind and music to this 'quiet place' of renewal. It is my hope that these compositions will take you to your own personal 'quiet place'. Perhaps I will meet you there."

Circus Day at last! What excitement and anticipation spread throughout the town! A trip in the early hours to the railroad yards to watch the unloading of the wagons, animals, etc., and then the rumbling caravan's long trek to the Circus grounds. If you were lucky, you got a job hauling water to the thirsty elephants although it seemed as if the trips to the water tap to fill the buckets would never end. At last you were given a pass for the performance. The first thing you did was walk slowly through the Menagerie tent to look at the strange and intriguing animals. Most of these you had seen only in books. What a thrill! Next, the CIRCUS CALLIOPE(CALYOPE) was playing, warning the town that the Circus performance would soon begin and the people began scurrying to the grounds.
This music will bring back the memories of going to the Circus as a youngster.
