The Bill Carrera CD Reviews
Welcome to the EvO:R Carrera Reviews Section.
I would like to take a few minutes to introduce myself to everyone. My name is Bill
Carrera and I am the new music reviewer here at Evor. I wanted to let you know a little
about my thoughts on music. It's important to let the people that I review know how I
think of and listen to music. First of all I believe that if your music sucks then
the world should know about it! After all, you have the nerve to charge as much for
your stuff as the majors do so it better be pretty damn good, and if it is, I'll also
tell the world. I'll hold nothing back!

THE STORY
In the year 2012 an everyday boy (Arturo) meets an everyday girl (Yoshia) at a Vibe bar when he spots
her as she's being strapped into an xstazy machine. He walks over and with one glance convinces her that
she would rather talk to him than do it mechanically, so they go off together to The Emerald Forest, a
dance and romance club in the industrial section. After a night together, they fall in love, get married,
get an apartment and are starting to have children when Our Brother announces a new energy war and
Arturo is placed in the position of either joining the army to go fight in Mongolia or joining a peacers
brigade and shipping off to the moon to mine heavy metals.

THE REVIEW
Roberto Luz has been an international favorite on the EvO:R website for many years and we have always looked
forward to any piece of work he can submit to us (and he has quite a resume of great material).
Roberto's CD's have been great listens as he does a masterful job of creating great tropical blends of exciting
and intellegent music. Considering the fact that all of his recordings have been done in less then perfect
situations as he is in a small third world country where things we take for granted in the states are luxury
items in his world.
With all the issues he has just to get people together and record I must admit that "The Road to Paradise"
is the best CD Roberto Luz has ever released. It was dynamic, yet soft, complex, yet simple. Complete with 13 songs
that make you want to forget the fact that you live in a concrete jungle. Even song #2 "Turn it Off" asks you to
"turn off" that loud boom box beat and join them in their music.
In addition to being a great listen I was please to discover that the CD had a story line worth following
(The CD story is talked about in the intro paragraph at the top of the page). I'm a huge fan of CD's telling a
complete story so that listeners will want to hear the CD in the order the songs where recorded and treat the
CD as a single piece of work not just 12-13 individual ideas and this CD must be listened as if it where a movie.
Another International Veteran EvO:R member Jeza joins
Roberto Luz on the song "Our Brother Speaks" making this cd a real collectors item for fans
of EvO:R. In fact, I think this CD features the first published material with Roberto Luz
handling most of the main vocals. His singing would never win any awards but I was so taken by the island beats and the
story in the music that I was able to forgive the fact that a strong vocalist wasn't used.
I'm willing to bet that Roberto took the vocal roll because he wasn't able to secure anyone better
that could be available to do a complete work. He did have a great female vocalist doing harmonies and background vocals
and between the two the story from the CD came through without a glitch.
I'm very pleased with this work and I'm sure many of you would agree that this is an award winning effort. Roberto's flute playing
has never been better and his cast of band mates are in rare form generating incredible island beats to tell a great futuristic story.
